Get started with Sybre

A Windows PC, a handful of free open-source tools, and an AI coding assistant. Everything Sybre runs on is free, battle-tested software you install locally.

What you need

Sybre runs on ordinary Windows hardware. No cloud accounts, no Linux, no DevOps experience required.

🖥️

A Windows PC

Windows 10 or 11. Desktop or laptop. The same kind of machine you already use for your business. That's the hardware — you provide it, Sybre runs on it.

🤖

An AI Coding Tool (Recommended)

Claude Code, Cursor, or similar. This is how most users will customize and extend the platform. ~$20-200/month. Not strictly required — experienced developers can work with the codebase directly, and once your tools are built, day-to-day use doesn't require AI at all.

⏱️

A Willingness to Build

Sybre isn't plug-and-play SaaS. You direct AI to build what your business needs. Domain expertise matters more than coding skill.

That's it. The Sybre setup system automates everything else — installing dependencies, configuring the database, setting up services, and getting you to a running application. You bring the hardware. AI is strongly recommended for setup and development, but the platform itself runs independently — your finished tools work with or without an AI assistant.

What gets installed

Sybre is built on widely-used, industry-standard open-source tools. All free. All installed locally on your machine.

🐍

Python

Celery + Redis

Background task processing

Handles scheduled jobs, heavy processing, and automation that runs behind the scenes. Redis acts as the message broker coordinating work between tasks.

Free & open source Industry standard for Python task queues
📦

Node.js

Frontend build tools

Powers the frontend build system (Vite) that compiles and serves the React interface. Also runs Sybre Manager's desktop components.

Free & open source Standard runtime for modern web development

These are the core dependencies — but not all of them. Each component you install may bring its own open-source libraries (Python packages, React components, etc.) managed automatically through standard package managers. As you build out your system, you'll add more dependencies tailored to your needs — AI handles finding and installing them. Everything is free, widely supported, and runs locally. Unlike cloud platforms, you can inspect, backup, or migrate any part of it at any time.

"But I don't have a server"

You probably do. You just call it a computer.

Why "server" sounds scarier than it is

When most people hear "server," they picture a warehouse full of blinking machines in a climate-controlled room. That image exists because companies like Amazon, Google, and Netflix need to serve millions of people simultaneously. That requires massive infrastructure.

Sybre doesn't serve millions of people. It serves you and your team — maybe 1 to 10 people, on your local network. That's like the difference between a restaurant kitchen feeding a city and your home kitchen feeding your family. The "kitchen" is a lot simpler when you're only cooking for a few people.

A "server" in Sybre's context is just a computer that stays on and runs the application. It can be the same PC you use for your daily work. There's no special hardware, no server operating system, no IT department required. If you can run Windows and open a web browser, you can run Sybre.

Accessing Sybre from outside your office

When you're at home or in the office, Sybre runs on your local network — fast, private, and simple. But what about when you're traveling, working from home, or need to check something from your phone?

Sybre currently supports secure remote access through two proven methods:

WireGuard VPN

A lightweight, modern VPN that creates an encrypted tunnel between your device and your office network. Once set up (Sybre Manager handles the configuration), you connect with one click and access Sybre as if you were sitting at your desk. Your data never passes through a third-party cloud — the connection goes directly from your device to your network.

Remote Desktop (RDP)

Connect directly to your office computer's screen from anywhere. You see and control your desktop remotely, with Sybre running exactly as it would in person. Combined with WireGuard, this gives you fully encrypted, direct access with no third-party services involved.

Both methods prioritize maximum security through simplicity — your data travels through an encrypted tunnel directly to your own hardware, never through someone else's servers. Setup is handled through Sybre Manager and is a one-time process.

We're exploring additional remote access options for the future to make this even more seamless, but WireGuard + RDP is battle-tested, secure, and works reliably today.

Hardware recommendations

The right setup depends on your team size and workload. Here's what to expect at each level.

Solo Seller
1–2 users

Everything runs on one machine. Your existing laptop is probably enough. Handles daily operations, dashboards, order management, and light analytics.

RAM 16 GB
Storage 256 GB SSD
CPU Any modern processor
Est. hardware cost $500 – $800
Power User
5–10 users

Full speed on everything including heavy pipelines like ad bid optimization, large dataset analysis, and batch processing. Multiple background workers running simultaneously.

RAM 64 GB
Storage 1 TB SSD
CPU High-core-count
Est. hardware cost $1,200 – $2,000

For context: A mid-size Amazon seller typically spends $70,000–$300,000 per year on SaaS subscriptions (ad tools, inventory, shipping, accounting, listing tools). Even the most expensive hardware option above pays for itself in the first month.

How it works

Sybre is a full-stack application with a straightforward architecture. No containers, no cloud orchestration.

Your Browser
React Frontend

The interface you interact with. Runs in any modern browser at localhost.

↕
Backend
Python / FastAPI

Handles API requests, business logic, and real-time WebSocket updates.

↕
↕
Database
MySQL

Your data. On your machine. Queryable, backupable, fully yours.

Task Workers
Celery + Redis

Background processing, scheduled tasks, and heavy operations.

Sybre Manager
Sybre Manager Web

Start/stop services, manage deployments, git tools, and dev controls.

Solo setup

Everything runs on one machine. Open Sybre Manager, start the services, open your browser. That's it.

Team setup

One machine holds the database (the shared source of truth). Everyone else runs the backend and frontend on their own workstation, pointed at the shared database. No cloud accounts. No per-seat licensing. Adding a team member costs $0 — just install Sybre on their PC and point it at your database.

Resource-aware by design

Heavy operations (bid optimization, large data analysis, batch processing) run through Celery task workers with configurable concurrency. On a powerful machine, run 8 workers in parallel. On a laptop, run 2 and let tasks queue up. The system adapts to your hardware — nothing crashes, things just take longer.

Setup process

AI is your co-pilot from the very first step. Sybre was built to be used with AI from the ground up — including setup itself.

1

Set up your AI assistant first (recommended)

We recommend this as step one. Install Claude Code (or your preferred AI coding tool) and point it at the Sybre project. The framework includes a comprehensive project guide that immediately teaches AI the entire system — architecture, conventions, tools, and setup procedures. Once AI is configured, it helps you through every remaining step, answers questions, troubleshoots issues, and guides you through decisions like solo vs. team setup.

For most users, AI is your setup assistant, your documentation, and your support team from minute one. Experienced developers comfortable with Python, React, and MySQL can skip this step and work with the codebase directly.
2

Install dependencies (AI-guided)

AI walks you through installing Python, Node.js, MySQL, and Redis. The setup script detects what you have and installs what's missing. If something goes wrong, ask AI — it knows the fix.

3

Configure your environment (AI-guided)

AI helps you create your database, set up credentials, and configure connection settings. It will ask whether you want solo mode (everything on one machine) or team mode (shared database), and configure accordingly.

4

Launch and start building

Open Sybre Manager, start the services, open your browser. You'll see the base application with starter components. Now tell AI what your business needs — the same AI that just helped you set up is now your full-time development partner.

Is Sybre right for you?

Great fit

  • You're an ecommerce seller paying for 5+ SaaS tools
  • You're comfortable directing AI to build things (or willing to learn)
  • You want to own your business data and tools permanently
  • You value long-term savings over instant setup
  • You have specific needs that generic SaaS doesn't cover well
  • You run a small team (1–10 people) and hate per-seat pricing

Not the right fit

  • You want plug-and-play with zero setup
  • You need something working in the next 30 minutes
  • You have no interest in how your tools work under the hood
  • You need enterprise-grade HR, payroll, or manufacturing modules today
  • You're looking for a mobile-first application
