Rent-to-own pricing

Yes, there's a subscription. Here's why it's different.
We provide ongoing updates, new features, and community support — so technically, Sybre has a subscription component. But our costs are fundamentally different from traditional SaaS, and that means yours are too.
Traditional SaaS costs
- Massive server farms running your application 24/7
- Cloud infrastructure scaling with every user added
- Security teams protecting centralized data for thousands of customers
- Per-user costs that grow linearly with your team
- Their costs go up as you grow — so your price goes up too
Our costs
- We don't host your application — you do, on your own hardware
- We don't store your data — it lives on your machine
- We don't scale servers when you add users — your hardware handles it
- Our job is building and improving the software, not running infrastructure
- That's why we can charge a fraction of what SaaS companies charge
How it works
Months 1–6: Free
Full access to the core framework. Build, customize, evaluate. No payment info required. Drop anytime, no questions asked.
Months 7–16: Pay toward ownership
Continue receiving updates and building on the platform. Each payment goes toward the $1,000 ownership price. You're buying, not renting.
After $1,000 paid: You own it
The code is yours. Your components are yours. Everything you've built stays with you. Even if you never pay another dollar, the platform you have is yours forever.
Ongoing updates (optional)
Stay current with new features, improvements, and security updates. Includes access to the private community, knowledge base, and the Sybre Marketplace. Cancel anytime — your existing platform keeps working.
Common questions
What if I stop paying for updates?
Nothing breaks. Your platform continues running exactly as it is. You just stop receiving new updates. Want to catch up later? The reinstatement fee is based on how long you've been away — roughly $50 per lapsed month, capped at $1,000 (the cost of the software itself). Skip 3 months, pay $150. Skip a year, pay $600. No matter how long you've been away, getting current never costs more than starting over. For larger reinstatement amounts, payment plans may be available on request.
What about marketplace components?
The marketplace is a unified ecosystem — Sybre-built and third-party add-ons are treated equally. Components are tools and features that plug into your platform: an inventory forecaster, a shipping label generator, an industry-specific management suite. They're priced independently by their creators: some are free and open source, some are one-time purchases, and some may offer their own update subscriptions. All add-ons use the same SDK, same installation process, and same quality standards regardless of who built them. Learn more about the marketplace →
What if I stop during the buy-in period?
Everything you have built keeps working exactly as it is — the platform continues running permanently, even if you pause your buy-in. You simply stop receiving updates, new marketplace access, and community features. When you're ready, come back and resume payments where you left off — every dollar already paid still counts toward your $1,000 ownership threshold. You can also pay the remaining balance at any time to unlock full ownership immediately (e.g., if you've paid $400, a one-time $600 payment completes the purchase).
Are there per-user or per-seat fees?
No. Sybre runs on your hardware. Add as many users as your machine can handle. The pricing is per-installation, not per-user. A team of 10 pays the same as a solo operator.
What happens when a new major version comes out?
Your current version keeps working forever — a new major version (e.g., Sybre v2) is a separate product, not a forced upgrade. Existing owners get upgrade pricing, and your v1 platform, components, and data stay fully functional. Upgrade when you're ready, or don't — there's no pressure and no expiration.
What do I need besides Sybre itself?
A Windows PC (your existing hardware may be enough). An AI coding tool like Claude Code (~$20–200/mo) is strongly recommended for development and customization, but not strictly required — experienced developers can work with the code directly. Once your tools are built, day-to-day use of Sybre doesn't require AI at all. See Get Started for hardware recommendations.
Is this open source?
Sybre uses a two-tier model. The core platform (infrastructure, WebSocket, navigation, auth) is source-available and protected — you can read and understand it, but it's not open for modification. The SDK, bundled components, and all add-ons are fully open — you can inspect, modify, extend, and build on them freely. Add-on developers choose their own licensing: open source, source-available, or proprietary. You always have full access to the code running on your machine.
Compare the total cost
What a typical marketplace seller spends on software vs. what Sybre costs over time.
| Typical SaaS Stack | Sybre | |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | $23,000 – $113,000 | $600 |
| Year 2 | $23,000 – $113,000 | $1,000 |
| Year 3+ | $23,000 – $113,000 | $600/yr |
| 3-year total | $69,000 – $339,000 | $2,200 |
What the SaaS stack includes
Plus hardware ($500–$2,000 one-time) and optionally an AI coding tool (~$200/mo) for development. Even at maximum cost, Sybre is a fraction of traditional SaaS. Note: Sybre's built-in tools run without AI — AI is for building and customizing, not for daily use.
